TIME IN COLOR

May 2022 Gallery Show, Lettered St. Coffee House

This series of watercolor paintings were inspired by the concept of ritual and offer a reminder of how the artistic process can be just as important as the final result.

These paintings were made over the years of the Covid-19 pandemic, usually in 15 to 30 minute painting sessions in the early morning before the day started. For that reason some paintings took months to complete, but I was in no rush because the practice of painting created a space for my mind to go into a complete blank flow state.  I went into a session of painting with no agenda and simply allowed myself to be immersed in the process of moving color and making shapes.  Stitched together these paintings create an assemblage of steadying moments of peace during a very unsteady couple years.
